Splendour of the South is a tour package begins atBangalore on Mondays around 3 pm with a gettogether and then sight seeing of the city of Bangalore. Then in the night the train The Golden Chariot - Splendour of the South leaves bangalore railway station for Chennai. The next day you will be taken to Mahabalipuram as a day excursion. After seeing Temple of Rathas, the Penance of Bhagirath and Shore Temple in Mahabalipuram, the Lunch will be at Mahabalipuram. You will the be returning to Chennai to visit some places of Chennai, namely, St Mary's Church, St Thomas Cathedral, Kapaleeswarar temple, Shiva Temple Fort St George, National Art gallery and Museum and the Film studios in Chennai . In the evening you board the train and will have dinner in the train.

Next in the itinerary will be Pondicherry to visit Auroville and Sri Aurobindo Ashram. In the night the train lleaves for Trichy to see Rockfort Temple, Mathrubuteshwar Temple and Uchhi pillayar Kovil in Trichy. From Trichy you will be leaving for Tanjore by road to see Brihadeeswarar temple, Alangudi Temple, Chnadra Bhagawan temple and the Schwartz Church in Thanjavur.

Next the train will reach Madurai and you can go sight seeing Meenakshi temple , Thirumalai nayakar Mahal and Thirupparangundram in the area. Next you will be reaching Kanyakumari for the sunrise and the confluence of the three seas, Arabian Sea, bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean. Reach Thiruvananthapuram after lunch in trainvisit the palace and strol through Kovalam Beach. The train departs to Alleppey in the night.

In the morning visit Kumarakom, the small backwater village, through a bewitching ride on the traditional boat. Kumarakom is a cluster of small island and is the best place for bird watching as you can find numerous birds local as well as migrating ones.

After the lunch at Kumarakom you will drive on to Kochi. Continue sight seeing in Kochi, visit Dutch palace, Kathakali dance performance, Mattancherry Palace, Jewish Synagogue, St Francis Church, Fishing hamlets and Chinese Fishing nets etc. In the evening you will watch kathakali dance performance and then back to the train to Banglaore for the end of the tour package.
